The MOBULA 10 Expedition is a 3 year collaboration in Ambon, Maluku, between LPMK and The SeaCleaners to reduce plastic pollution at its source and strengthen local waste solutions. Ambon faces major waste management challenges, with limited recycling infrastructure and plastic leakage affecting coastal communities, marine ecosystems, local fisheries, and public health.
MOBULA 10 is a high performance cleanup catamaran designed for demanding conditions in estuaries, coastal waters, and island shorelines. It enables continuous collection and on board sorting, supporting large scale and targeted interventions where waste accumulates most.
Beyond collection, the expedition is research driven and community focused. It combines scientific work, awareness and education, and capacity building so local teams can continue operations after the project. At the end of the mission, the MOBULA unit is intended to be transferred to local partners, ensuring long term impact.
